Graduates from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at UGA have many job opportunities in the state of Georgia. ----- Dr. Manan Sharma Descriptive Text for Video The scene opens with Manan Sharma standing in a laboratory talking about graduating with both a Masters and Ph.D. degree in Food Science. The scene changes to students handling citrus fruit in the lab setting; next someone is handling small labeled jars. In the next image someone is handling test tubes and other containers. The scene changes to someone working with a peach that is situated in a laboratory device. The scene changes to Manan working on a computer in the Food Science lab. There are shelves filled with beakers and glass containers; to his right is a microscope and other lab equipment. The scene changes to the Food Analysis-Research lab. In the next image there are several test vials situated in a yellow vial tray; each vial is labeled and there is an empty slot between each vial. The next image shows a collection of test tubes in a stand; the tubes are labeled and approximately 1/4 to 1/2 filled with various liquids/substances. There is a cap on each tube. In the next image there are rows of beakers; some have funnels added to the top of the beaker. The scene returns to Manan standing in the laboratory, talking about the impact of working as a Food Scientist. The next image shows a lab worker examining a peach that has been cut open at the top; he is using specialized lab equipment to examine the peach. The image changes to another person carefully cutting a peach into thin slices. The next image is a beaker half-filled with purple grapes. In the next scene a lab worker (wearing a lab coat and latex gloves) is pouring the beaker of grapes into a blender; afterwards, the worker adds a clear liquid to the contents of the blender. The blender is turned on and the next scene shows the contents of the blender being mixed together. This is followed by someone pouring the contents of the blender into a beaker measuring 500ml. The scene returns to Manan standing in front of his computer talking about choosing to attend UGA and the Food Science program because of its outstanding reputation. The image changes to lab tables containing petri dishes and other lab equipment and supplies. In the next scene a food microbiologist wearing latex gloves is operating lab equipment during an experiment. The scene changes back to Manan talking about the UGA Food Science program's worldwide reputation. The next scene shows a batch of peaches on a table; the peaches are numbered with a black marker (239, 240, etc). The image changes to a liquid mixture in a beaker. In the next scene a lab worker wearing latex gloves is pouring liquid through a funnel into a narrow-top beaker. In the next scene a lab worker wearing latex gloves is using a small instrument to remove the contents of a test tube into a glass dish lined with paper. The scene changes to someone carefully folding a paper filter and setting it atop a glass funnel. In the next scene a lab worker wearing latex gloves is using an eyedropper to add liquid to a small device. The scene changes to a lab worker entering numbers/settings into the keypad of a piece of equipment. The image changes to a lab worker wearing latex gloves and handling purple grapes. This all takes place while Manan is talking about working with internationally recognized researchers in the UGA Food Science and Technology Department.
