Profile and tribute to Buddy Candler, (posthumously) honored by Emory Healthcare as a one of four distinguished health care leaders awarded its 2010 Second Century Award. He received the Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award for Emory University Hospital. About Buddy Candler Buddy Candler spent his life helping other people, working to preserve Georgia's natural resources, and loving his family and friends. Before his death in 2005, he established the Buddy Candler Foundation to continue helping others even after his death. With his widow, Mollie Carbine Candler, the Buddy Candler Foundation provided the means for the Rollins Pavilion to purchase new state-of-the-art beds for its 11 patient care suites. Because of this generosity, Emory University Hospital can offer the highest level of comfort to patients in the Rollins Pavilion. About the Second Century Awards Emory Healthcare named four distinguished health care leaders as its 2010 Second Century Award winners. Honorees were selected for their significant impact on the care of countless Atlanta citizens, as nominated by Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown supporters and previous award recipients. The awards were presented during the 2010 Second Century Award Dinner, held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Atlanta History Center.
