Background Approximately 15,000 Americans die suddenly each year from the rupturing of an aortic aneurysm. Now, a new research study at Emory is testing an implantable sensor that monitors abdominal aortic aneurysms after they have been repaired. Researchers say this sensor may be able to warn people of an attack before it happens by monitoring pressure in the aneurysm, similar to a blood pressure cuff. This VNR features a participant in the study who had a sensor implanted, plus video of the surgery. Soundbites include: Dr. Ross Milner, Emory Vascular Surgeon and Pope Watson, Study Participant.
