First-InSight  Selection Procedure

    Hi Friends,


    I am Pravin S Swamy, A student of MCA-III(08-11) Batch, SIBACA, Lonavala. I got placed in first-InSight Corporation few months ago. It was a centralized campus placement activity of Sinhgad. The company visited the SIBAR Campus on September 3, 2010.

    The selection procedure consisted of Four phases:
    1) Aptitude Tests.
    2) Group Discussion.
    3) Technical Interview.
    4) HR Interview.

    And last but not the least immediate joining.
     
    Criteria: The Company had no such criteria; they allowed all the students to sit for aptitude tests.
    There were more than 400 students eligible for this company from Sinhgad M.C.A.

    After giving a nice presentation the company officials told us about the aptitude tests.

    Phase: 1  Aptitude Tests
     
    They took two aptitude tests:
     
    1) The first test was completely technical test. 

    2) The questions were easy but little bit tricky. 

    3) They asked maximum questions from VB.Net, SQL Queries, Database Concepts, Operating System and V.B.

    4) The time given for this test was 1 hour and there were around 50-55 questions. 

    5) Immediately after this test, they took the second test which was the general aptitude test.

    The Second Test was the general aptitude test.

    1) The questions were generally based on the logical and mathematical reasoning. 

    2) I will suggest you to use R.S Aggarwal aptitude test book to prepare for this test. 

    3) The time given for this test was 1 hour and there were around 50 -55 questions.

    After taking these tests, I waited for the result for a long time. The result came after around 20 days. The company short listed 19 students based on the aptitude tests performance.
    I was one of the 19 students.

    Phase: 2  Group Discussion

    The 19 students were divided among the batches and we were asked to come for the G.D round at the company?s office.
     
    The G.D round was also divided into two phases.

    1) Technical G.D
     
    In this round, we were asked to write about SDLC for 10 minutes. The HR persons present there collected our papers and they asked to elaborate the points. Everyone elaborated their points very well; when my turn came I was very nervous. But I kept on speaking everything in good English pronunciation.
     
    After listening everyone, The H.R persons fired some questions which were related to SDLC but were confusing. They asked their questions to everyone and everyone tried their best to convince them.

    2) General G.D
     
    In this round, we were asked to choose one of the four topics written on the board. We were again asked to write about one of the four topics.
     
    The HR persons present there collected our papers and they asked to elaborate the points. Everyone elaborated their points well. After listening everyone, The H.R persons fired some questions which were related to the topic of GD.
     
    Everyone was trying to make their mark at that point.

    The H.R personnel told that they will send the list of short listed students to the college authority. One the same day, after three hours, the result came. They short listed 5 students, I was one of them.

    Phase: 3  Technical Interview

    The 5 short listed students were asked to come again to the company office on other specified date. I was the last one I the list of five students. I was very nervous as it was one to one interview.  I entered the interview room and I saw two young It Professionals and one H.R Mam. We introduced ourselves and they were trying to make me comfortable by asking some easy questions. But after some time they fired some tricky and confusing questions to me.
     
    The questions were generally from Database Concepts, OOPS Concepts and VB Concepts. At last they also asked me some question about my hobbies and interests.
    My technical interview was as long as 50 minutes.

    Phase: 4  H.R Interview

    After two days I got a call from the H.R personnel of First-Insight. He asked me to come again to the company office for the H.R interview. I entered the interview room and saw two experienced H.R persons.
    They asked me many questions about my behavior.
     
    They put many situations in front of me and asked my views about how I will behave in those situations. After 30 minutes they left me and finally another H.R personnel came and said ?Pravin. You are Selected!? Friends I can tell you I was the happiest person in the world.
     
    Later I came to know that I was the only student who got selected in this company. I got a good package and I am currently working as a ?Trainee Software Engineer?. The Joining was an immediate one and I was asked to join on October 13, 2010.
    I joined on the date given to me. They gave me ample amount of time to appear for my fifth semester exam.
    The company is a very good one and you will learn a lot here.

    At last I just wanna say you one thing.
    ?Try Try and you will succeed because if you don?t try then you will not create the chances for you getting success?
