    ADO.NET Architecture
    ----------------------------
ADO.NET is a trademark. No abbreviation.

    - Data Management of different sources using
    .NET class library.

    There are two parts:
    • DataSet Block
    • Data Provider Block

    ----

    DataSet Block
    ------------------
    System.Data namespace
    - DataTable, DataSet, DataView classes

    Run-time tabular data[Rows & Columns] can be
saved temporarily in DataSet, DataTable & DataView.

    When working with flat files,
'DataSet Block' can do all works for flat files like
    .xml and .txt files.

    Data Provider Block
    -------------------------
When working databases, Data Provider Block is
    MUST necessary.

There are 4-types of data providers available.

    2 - Basic data providers:
    ----------------------------
    • OLE DB Data Provider
    - Works with legacy databases.
    - DBMS [Not relational]
    - IBM UDB
    - FoxPro
    - RDBMS with OleDb capability
    - Sql Server 6.5, 7.0
    - Oracle 7.1, 7.3, 8.0 [Net8 connectivity]

    System.Data.OleDb namespace

    • ODBC Data Provider
    - Works with RDBMS
    - Sql Server 6.5, 7.0
    - Sql Server 2000, 2005, 2008
    - Oracle 7.1, 7.3, 8.0
    - Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g

    System.Data.Odbc namespace

    2 - special Data Providers
    -------------------------------
    • Data Provider for Sql Server [2000, 2005, 2008]
    System.Data.SqlClient namespace

    • Data Provider for Oracle [8i, 9i, 10g, 11g]
    System.Data.OracleClient namespace

    Advantages of Special Data Providers:
    --------------------------------------------
    1. Data Providers are regularly changed with
    the changes in the product.

    2. XML Data Conversion capability.
    - Internet is a Multi-OS environment.
    - XML data for Mobile/ Micro-devices.

    3. Capability to work in a max. number of
    con-current online users environment.

    -----
    Internet-ready Database:
    -------------------------------
♦ max. number of con-current online users management.
    ♦ XML data conversion capability

    ---
    Why NOT Ms Access ?
